"I might be making a bold statement, but I genuinely think that this recipe is the best recipe among all of the recipes that I have done throughout this course. This recipe was one where I genuinely had the most fun making and eating. I might not sound like it but I am not a big sweets person. However, this recipe blew my mind by how “un-vegan” it tasted and looked. Not saying that being vegan or vegetarian is bad but there is this perception that vegan or vegetarian food doesn’t taste as good as foods with animal products in them. With regular pastries and sweets, there is a heavy emphasis on dairy products I believe. Almost every iconic dessert (within the pastry and cake realms) involves dairy products. The French croissant, New York Cheesecake, crème brûlée, etc. Even chocolate needs other dairy products to manufacture it. However, this dessert takes the cake. Personally, this dessert does not require high technical skills to pull off. The crust was very straightforward in its requirements. Blend everything and press them into the tart/cake/pie pan and into the fridge or freezer to keep the shape. The pie filling was also not hard to make. Everything into the blender and you have yourself a very nice chocolate filling. The use of avocado and coconut gave it a creamy texture and a slight nutty sweet aroma. The cacao powder gave it the chocolatey taste. You wouldn’t be hard-pressed by people not being able to differentiate the two if you’ve had presented them actual chocolate filling and this alteration. It tasted that good."
