78: The Science of Changing Time

Lisa Broderick earned a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from Duke. She is a

Transcendental Meditation (TM) Sidha, attended the Monroe Institute for the exploration of

expanded states of consciousness, and studied imagery and dream reading at the American

Institute for Mental Imagery with noted author and teacher of Western spirituality Dr. Gerald

Epstein for fifteen years. She currently runs a business consultancy based in New York City

that helps socially conscious entrepreneurs manifest their creativity and energy.



We’ve all experienced it, those weird episodes where time doesn’t pass as normal, usually greatly slowed down because of something we’re doing or experiencing, like athletes on the field in the zone.   Up until now, from the perspective of science, most people would say that if it’s in your head, it’s not real.  But what if you could learn to bring on episodes of controlling time, when and how you wanted them?  What if you could learn to control time, so you had all the time in the world?  This book explains the science of how that may be possible, with practical exercises to show you how.




  • When we stop pretending that time is a real thing, we can access the past and the future at any moment. This state is characterized by certain brainwaves and has been called the zone, flow, and the Now. It is what I call focused perception. In this state, you can time travel anywhere you want: you may find yourself affecting the past, influencing the future, and choosing how you experience the present. In some sense, all personal transformation work is rooted in time. When we master time, we master ourselves.

CHANGING TIME EXERCISE FOR YOU TO RECORD IN YOUR OWN VOICE:

Close your eyes.

Inhale through your nose regularly and exhale through the mouth twice as long.

Again, inhale through the nose and exhale long, slow, twice as long. Maybe even seeing the air come out of your mouth as white smoke.

Inhale again through the nose, and exhale slowly through the mouth, this time seeing the smoke turn into the number 3 in your mind’s eye.

And with the inhale and exhale see the number 3 dissolve into the number 2.

And with the next exhalation, we are seeing the number two dissolve into the number 1 and then again seeing the number 1 turn into a zero.

Let’s choose something we would really like to create for ourselves. Something that is meaningful and that you want to experience in your life. It could be a new job, a house, a retreat center, a new love, a special group that you feel a sense of belonging in. See it in your mind’s eye. Think of it as an experience or a movie that you are living it. Think of how this will benefit everyone. It’s a detriment to no-one

Think about all the ways this benefits everyone.

Now keeping this thought in your mind and living it, the visceral sense of seeing, feeling touching it. Now become aware that it has already happened.

Live it. It’s accomplished. You’re living the fact that the phone rang, the check came, the escrow closed, the people showed up

Fully and completely, there’s nothing more to do.

Feel the satisfaction, the joy…. all of the sensations of this thing you want… it’s already happened.

Now, don’t ponder the details. just live the experience that it’s done. It’s happened. You can relax, knowing that it is already complete.

It doesn’t matter how it happened.

Live through this for a moment….(pause)

Now we are going to invoke our bodies. It’s so important because we hold things in our bodies.

Imagine amplifying this feeling of certainty out the bottom of your feet, into the earth. It’s coming out the bottom, filling the entire earth.

Filling it with the certainty that everything you want..., this experience is done. There’s nothing more to do. 

Now moving outwards… up the top of your head, outwards from your body in every direction, out and up and up and moving into the galaxy, and moving into the universe as large as you can go, higher and higher and higher and now…. Just let the feeling go…. RELAX.  Feel your body rest in the calmness of nothing more to do  (long pause and fade out) END
